The Arsonist
Holly Norton
September 23, 2026
She strikes
a match for any man
who insinuates himself
into her life,
incinerates
friends and lovers
who leave,
carries a torch
for those who might,
considers everything
kindling.
She packs up
the ashes
in cardboard boxes,
leaves a trail
of charred remains,
wipes them out
of her mind.
She learns
to cauterize her wounds,
keeps putting on
her asbestos suit.
